It has become known that on Friday of next week, Riga “Dinamo” will play against Vantaa “Kiekko” – Finland’s second-league club, which took the ninth place last season without qualifying for the playoffs. In 2017, Kiekko played in the final of the second league. The team has never played in Finland’s strongest league.
The team consists of two hockey players with experience in the Continental Hockey League. Defender Niko Nurmikanta has played three matches in the “Jokerit” ranks of Helsinki, but striker Konsta Hirvonen has participated in five matches. Neither point was reached. Kiekko is represented by seven hockey players – two goalkeepers, two defenders and three strikers – who have contracts with Jokerit and have been hired out to a second league team. Only one of these hockey players is over 20 years old.
It was previously reported that on Monday, “Dinamo” will meet with Imatra’s “Kettera”, but on Tuesday, Joensuu’s “Kiekko-Pojat” will meet. Both games will take place in Imatra. On Thursday, a match against “Jokerit” represented by Jānis Kalniņš is waiting. “Kiekko-Vantaa” will face on Friday. The regular championship for Rigans is planned to start on September 3 at home against Nursultana “Barys”.
