Persija and Persebaya’s Attitudes Regarding the Results of the League 1 Manager Meeting

Jakarta

Persija Jakarta and Persebaya Surabaya are not satisfied with the results of the Shopee Liga 1 2020 meeting manager that has been held by PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) as the competition operator.

The League 1 manager meeting was held on August 7, 2020. The discussion is more related to preparations to roll out the competition again on October 1, 2020, one of which is related to health protocols during the corona virus pandemic.

The results of the club meeting were not satisfactory for Persija Jakarta. In the end, they still don’t know what steps to take to prepare the team.

“Until now there has been no preparation because there has been no result from the meeting,” said the Sports Director of Persija, Ferry Paulus, to the media crew.

“There is no (preparation). The results of this meeting manager are not yet clear, so there is no preparation. There is no way there (to prepare the team),” said Persija Manager Bambang Pamungkas.

Persebaya also experienced confusion. They are still in the same attitude to refuse to continue the league if there is no guarantee of safety.

“The position of Persebaya has not changed so far. We are still waiting for a more detailed explanation regarding the implementation of the health protocol. Before and during the competition,” said the Persebaya manager, Candra Wahyudi, as quoted from the club’s official website.

Persebaya Surabaya also conveyed three questions to PT. LIB. All of that is related to the handling of health protocols:

1. How is the application of health protocols for clubs during the preparation (training) period before entering the competition. This is important, so that all clubs have clear and directed guidance during preparation. There are common standards that can be applied. The club does not set standards that are built according to individual perceptions. That way, when entering the competition, there is no need to worry about exposure to Covid-19.

2. It is also necessary to explain the mitigation or handling that must be carried out by the club, LIB, or other related parties, if there are players or officials whose swab test results are positive. The club, must get a complete and detailed picture so as not to stutter when this unwanted incident occurs.

3. Persebaya also needs a comprehensive picture of the steps taken by PSSI and LIB to ensure that continued competition does not have the potential to create a new cluster for the spread of Covid-19. This is related to matches that have the potential to collect crowds at the match venue or public places.
