Para-athletics – Schäfer jumps world record – sport

Para-athlete Leon Schäfer has improved his own world record in the long jump by 25 centimeters. The 23-year-old jumped 7.24 meters on his training facility in the last attempt and was the first long jumper in the class of unilateral transfemoral amputees to cross the seven-meter mark. Schäfer also set the previous world record of 6.99 meters in Leverkusen last year. “I knew that I had such a breadth in me. Calling that up in competition is something else. I think there is still a little more possible,” said Schäfer. Markus Rehm was also in good shape at his home game and won the cross-class competition with 8.32 meters.
