Odd win for Dovizioso

Spielberg

Andrea Dovizioso won the Austrian MotoGP after deciding to leave Ducati. A strange win for the Italian racer.

In the 2020 MotoGP race which was full of dangerous incidents at the Red Bull Ring Circuit on Sunday (16/8/2020) evening WIB, Doviziozo managed to become the first racer to cross the finish line. He outperformed Joan Mir and Jack Miller.

However, the victory was not easy, considering that Dovizioso was always a chasing racer. From the first laps, Dovizioso had to catch Miller and he also fell from the two front positions.

Momentum was obtained after the race was stopped on lap nine due to severe accidents by Johann Zarco and Franco Morbidelli. After the race continued, Dovizioso immediately overtook Miller and was able to maintain his leading position to finish.

The victory was such a relief for Dovizioso, considering that he could not win it in the first three races. Even in the last two races, Dovizioso only finished sixth and 11th, after finishing third in the first series of MotoGP 2020.

It is even more exciting for Dovizioso and at the same time surprising that this result was actually obtained a day after the announcement of his departure from Ducati at the end of this season. As is known, Dovizioso will no longer continue in the Italian team next season.

“I’m happy to come back to life after Brno and Jerez, I couldn’t find good feelings on this bike. I can’t brake, I can’t control the bike. I can actually do well in all sectors and this is frustrating for me. We learned what “It’s just what was lacking during these two races and suddenly everything worked fine. This is more of an approach to brakes than a major change to the bike,” said Dovizioso at Crash.

“I hope we can do better in the next series. I’m still not 100 percent comfortable with the brakes, good in the middle of the corner but not good at the ends. It’s strange to fix the shortcomings there,” he continued.

“Tire changes are felt for all riders and this is why this season’s championship is so strange compared to last season, so I am very happy. It is important to be able to get up and even more so to win,” concluded Andrea Dovizioso.
