A new service station at The Villages will offer REC-90 fuel for golf carts.
The 7-Eleven gas station and convenience store are moving into Colony Shell’s former home at Colony Plaza on County Road 466A, which closed abruptly last summer.
The 7-Eleven is about to deliver REC-90, an ethanol-free 90 octane lead-free blend designed for use in recreational engines that can be damaged by ethanol found in other gasoline blends.
The arrival of the new 7-Eleven at REC-90 will mark its debut in The Villages of the recreation fuel, popular with boat owners. REC-90 is available in 11 locations in Florida, primarily in communities located near water.
Those using REC-90 have reported better gas mileage.
Some manufacturers have claimed that even a little fuel with 15% ethanol can damage marine or small engines and void warranties.
