Manchester United fans are frustrated as Chelsea approach Kai Havertz’s transfer

Manchester United fans continue to feel frustrated at the club’s lack of activity in the transfer market as Chelsea look poised to complete the signing of Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer aims to significantly improve his squad to turn United into Premier League title contenders, but it’s been a slow start to the summer.

United have missed Jude Bellingham’s goal against Borussia Dortmund and the saga involving German club Jadon Sancho looks set to boom all summer.

Sancho is United’s top goal and the club were confident of finally signing their man, but Dortmund officials remain adamant that he will remain at Signal Iduna Park for at least another season.

United have not yet given up on completing the signing and remain in talks with Dortmund and Sancho’s representatives, but his salaries, agent costs and actual transfer fee all remain obstacles.

As United operate on a “one-at-a-time” policy when it comes to transfers, the focus on Sancho has meant that there has been no move on other goals yet, including Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have had a much tougher transfer window, having long signed the pair of forwards Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech. The latest reports suggest Havertz will soon arrive at Stamford Bridge as well, with a deal worth over € 100 million said to have been agreed.

With the Blues looking to improve their defense as well with signings from Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva, United fans are starting to cast envious glances in their direction.

United have only beaten Chelsea by goal difference this past season and with Frank Lampard’s side making such drastic improvements, fans are increasingly worried they may be left behind next season if signings don’t come soon.

United have until 5 October to make any purchases as the transfer window has been extended due to the chaos caused to the football calendar by the coronavirus pandemic.

However, they will need to act quickly if they want their new players to enter before the new Premier League season begins, with United returning to competitive action against Crystal Palace on 19 September.
