Koeman takes ex-team mate Henke Larsson and Alfred Schreuder as assistants at Barça | Primera División

There is a need for change at Barcelona, so we get a lot of new names. Ronald Koeman replaced Quique Setien as head coach after a dramatic end to the season and the debacle in the Champions League. The 57-year-old former defender saw Larsson and Schreuder join his staff today. They both signed until June 2022.

Koeman and Larsson know each other from their time at Feyenoord. They played there together in the seasons 1995-1997. When Koeman became a coach in Rotterdam, the Swede did an internship there.

Larsson is also no stranger to the Catalan club. He played 62 games in 2 seasons (2004-2006), scoring 22 goals. With Barça he won the Champions League, 2 national titles and the Spanish Supercup once. The Dutchman Frank Rijkaard was coach there at the time.

Alfred Schreuder is, according to his new employer, “an expert in strategy games and with extensive experience in both the Netherlands and Germany”. Schreuder worked as a head coach at FC Twente and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, where he left in June after his first season, and as an assistant coach at Ajax. He played football with RKC, NAC and Feyenoord, among others.
