The Dallas Cowboys were back on the training ground Thursday, and it marked practice number 10 for them.
We’re officially two weeks away from the start of the NFL regular season, and about that far away from the Cowboys kickoff in Los Angeles. Obviously, there is still a long way to go, which puts a lot of pressure on these practices.
We’ve put together a compilation of tweets that highlight what happened at The Star on Thursday. Let’s start.
Trevon Diggs keeps showing up
Looks like the rookie is doing fine.
Cowboys rookie CB Trevon Diggs had a great pass break in the team drills. Next game, Dak hit CeeDee Lamb on a ball 30 yards deep. Diggs later intercepted Dak on a pass that sailed over Amari Cooper’s head

It’s good to see.
Mitch Hyatt suffered a potential knee injury
Hope all is well there.
#Cowboys T Mitch Hyatt left training on a cart after injuring what looked like his right knee during individual exercises. It took about 15 minutes in practice

The starters practiced along the offensive line
Definitely a sigh of relief.
A good sign for the Cowboys’ offensive position: Tyron Smith, La’el Collins and Cam Erving were all in full stack and participating in individual drills today. Erving also participated in team exercises

Connor Williams has returned to training after missing Tuesday’s session for undisclosed reasons. It has LG’s starting job sewn up pretty well. Connor McGovern was his main competitor.

The Cowboys offense needed these guys to come back and establish some continuity.
CeeDee Lamb continues to impress
Cowboys rookie does a job!
CeeDee did more than CeeDee today. With Everson Griffen shutting down, Dak fired a short pass to his rookie gun. CeeDee tore it off inches from the ground as it plunged into a completion.

17th overall, lol.
Greg Zuerlein stays perfect
Special teams are getting a boost.
Cowboys kicker Greg Zuerlein now has 24 of 24 field goals at training camp. He hit 33, 37, 40, 42, 44, 48 today

A promising sign for close matches.
Still nothing from Sean Lee
The general is still absent.
More deliberately vague practice observations:
Returning to the field performing positional drills only LT Tyron Smith / RT La’el Collins. Training at 1st Collins camp. LB Sean Lee still does nothing. Missing? CB Chido Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis

Womp womp.
Bags could be a normal thing
The Cowboys defense is getting aggressive.
it starts with the rush for passes. it was as miserable as Dak had been in the pocket for about a week or so. I mapped bags of Everson Griffen, Bradlee Anae Tank & LVE (blitz) as well as a couple of inner pressure.
and what happens in these situations? bad throws

This is a promising sign for the defense.
Reggie Robinson continues to have safety looks
The Cowboys draft pick shows his flexibility.
Cowboys fourth-round pick CB Reggie Robinson worked safe today
– Jon Machota (onjonmachota) August 27, 2020
It will be interesting to see where he gets played.
Ha Ha Clinton-Dix had an interception
The Cowboys free agent signatory makes a play.
Ha Ha Clinton-Dix had a diving interception on a Dak throw in team drills. Dak seemed to throw it away. Aldon Smith probably would have had a sack on the game.

Defense wins today.
Bradlee Anae hype happens
Let’s go.
DE Bradlee Anae had at least two bags today. He performed well the latest practices.

The fifth round!
Chris Westry has some looks
Chidobe Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis are out. This opens up opportunities.
Chido Awuzie came to practice but did not participate, and Jourdan Lewis is still absent. Lots of opportunities for young people. Diggs obviously had a good day. Chris Westry had a bit of a run and had a nice SEB from Jon’Vea Johnson.

Depth is always important.
