NEWBURGH, Ind. – Brandon Wu secured his first Korn Ferry Tour title at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by United Leasing & Finance, claiming a final round, 7 under 65 at the Victoria National GC for a total of 18 under 65, a far shot from Greyson Sigg.
Wu, 23, started the 2020 season with conditional status, earning his first start at last month’s Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper, on his issue. He took advantage with a T9, bolstering his position for future reshuffles, and hasn’t looked back.
With the win, Wu moves up to fifth on the Korn Ferry Tour points list, earning from the additional events of the 2020-21 PGA TOUR (via a top-10 position in the Korn Ferry Tour Championship).
The native of Scarsdale, New York also earns a spot in his hometown US Open at the Winged Foot by virtue of being topping the list of three points events (Albertsons Boise Open; Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship; Korn Ferry Tour Championship) in which five US Open seats were awarded.
“I would say I have placed very well,” Wu said of his key to success this week in Southern Indiana. “I think that’s usually one of my strengths, but in the last couple of weeks I’ve stepped away from that a bit.
“I was able to hit big this week and only put a few putts beyond that, which really made a difference, I think.”
