Jürgen Kramny is the new U 19 trainer from Eintracht Frankfurt. In the interview he talks about the change in youth football, lack of technology, filled toolboxes and his sporting goals.

In the youth division of its national teams, the German Football Association (DFB) staff the coaching teams with a type of “experience”, “innovation” and “age specialist”. What type of trainer are you?

I am very interested in new things. But I also have a lot of experience. I know what is required of young people and how I have to deal with these age groups. For years we have focused on the system and moving in this system when training the players. But at some point we noticed that we lack the individualists, that there are no more street footballers. Too many eight-position players are being trained, and I lack the classic other types such as center forward, dribbler and tens. Unfortunately we chose the wrong way. We focused on tactics first, and then came individual training.
