Who is the greatest tennis player in the past 50 years? | Sport

Choosing the greatest player of the past 50 years has been difficult. Last week, five of our writers supported the nominations of the main candidates – Steffi Graf, Chris Evert, Serena Williams, Martina Navratilova and Monica Seles – before our tennis correspondent expressed her verdict, choosing Williams, and hundreds of our readers joined the debate, with the majority choosing Graf as their favorite.

Choosing the greatest male player can prove even more difficult. Roger Federer has won the biggest slams, but Rafa Nadal is not far behind and Novak Djokovic could soon overtake them both. And this before even considering the players who are not yet in action. Pete Sampras, Boris Becker, John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors and Bjorn Borg would all have imagined having the chance to make the three protagonists of today’s game run. Which of these greats was the biggest – or are we missing someone on our list? Tell us your verdict in the form below.
