Tua Tagovailoa video scares some Miami Dolphins fans

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa walked into Baptist Training Center in Davie, Fla. On Monday – good news for fans of the NFL team, though some had a brief one. fear.

Tagovailoa’s entry into the Dolphins headquarters meant he had returned two negative tests for the coronavirus. NFL rules require players to take two negative tests within 72 hours before entering the team’s facilities for training camp.

The Miami rookies showed up for their first tests on Thursday.

The Dolphins posted videos on social media of some of their rookies arriving for their first NFL training camp on Monday, including, of course, Tagovailoa, the fifth player selected in the April 23 NFL Draft.

But the video contained something of an optical illusion, leading some to believe that Tagovailoa’s left arm (and pitcher) was in a sling. When the perspective changed, it became clear that Tagovailoa’s “slingshot” was in fact a small package that he was carrying.

Tagovailoa’s Alabama career came to an end when the quarterback suffered a hip dislocation and posterior wall fracture during Crimson Tide’s game against Mississippi State on Nov. 16.

Tagovailoa’s transition to the NFL, the chance to assess his recovery and the opportunity to topple Ryan Fitzpatrick as the Dolphins’ starting quarterback will not include any preseason games. The NFL has officially canceled its preseason schedule as it attempts to navigate training camp through to the regular season during the coronavirus pandemic.

While the Dolphins will resume online meetings as they did during their off-season schedule, the team will not hit the field until August 3. This is when a week-long acclimatization period will begin, with a 60-minute schedule in the weight room. and 60 minutes of conditioning in the field in groups of 15 and a walkthrough for eight days.

Full, non-padded workouts will begin on August 12 and the Dolphins will be able to paddle for the first time on August 17.

Miami kicks off its regular season schedule on September 13, when the Dolphins visit the New England Patriots.
