Tua and the dolphins chase Dan Marino

It is difficult to characterize the current situation of the Miami Dolphins quarterback as a competition or a controversy.

Admittedly, Ryan Fitzpatrick is not about to return easily on a Sunday evening; his hard play on the 2019 section of the Dolphins was an example.

But Tua Tagovailoa is certainly seen and planned as the Dolphins quarterback of the future.

And as Miami seeks to transform itself into a competitor, Tagovailoa is less in pursuit of Fitzpatrick than of Dan Marino, as are the more than 20 Dolphins callers before him.

Since Marino retired after the 1999 season, the Dolphins have had 21 starting quarters – the third in the NFL during that period, according to NFL Research.

And it’s not since Marino in 1995 that Miami has had a Pro Bowl quarterback – the longest streak in the league, according to NFL Research.
