The Premier League confirms Liverpool’s decision to face Chelsea

Liverpool won the Premier League title, but the big question was when will it raise the prestigious trophy?

This question was answered by the Premier League in a statement and has an impact on Chelsea.

High-ranking teams have offered Liverpool an honor guard in recent years after their initial title win after an extraordinary season to date.

But Chelsea will have to go one step further and copiously withstand the Anfield title celebrations next Wednesday (July 22) when they face the Reds in Merseyside.

“This historic occasion will feature a unique ceremony designed to recognize club fans who are absent from the stadium because of games played behind closed doors,” reads a Premier League statement.

“The game, as well as the presentation of the Trophy, will be broadcast live by Sky on its Pick channel in the United Kingdom.

“This will allow fans to watch Liverpool’s last home game of the season and see their captain Jordan Henderson become the first Liverpool player to lift the Premier League Trophy.

“The players and the club staff will be presented with their medals and the Premier League Trophy, as winners of the 2019/20 season, on a special podium built on the Kop, surrounded by fan flags in the heart of the place where the supporters of the Liverpool usually sit.

“The Liverpool players, led by Henderson, were involved in planning the ceremony.

“Sir Kenny Dalglish, the manager of the Reds when they last won the title in 1990, will be a member of the Trophy presentation party. This will be Liverpool’s 19th top-flight title.

“Liverpool FC and the Premier League ask fans to stay home to attend the ceremony and not to go to Anfield on Wednesday evening.”
