The Gulf will no longer perform the duties of the Team Director of the Latvian Handball Federation

The Gulf LHF has been operating since 2012.

“In the Latvian Handball Federation, I have dedicated almost ten years to organizing competitions and national teams. They have been tense, full of challenges and goals that we and our team have achieved, despite the fact that financial and human resources have been very limited,” The LHF cites what Bay said.

“The biggest success in the history of Latvian handball has been achieved – entering the final tournament of the European Championship. A long-term general sponsor has been attracted to the Latvian leading league. Over the past two years, In cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science (MES), the Latvian Olympic Committee (LOC), the Latvian Sports Federation Council (LSFP), the European Handball Federation (EHF) and the International Handball Federation (IHF), a number of projects have been implemented and involved. “

In the statement published by the LHF, the Gulf does not mention the reasons for leaving, but only explains that the employment relationship has been terminated by mutual agreement.

“Currently, due to several recent events, I have decided to terminate my current employment relationship by mutual agreement with the federation management. I would like to thank all the national team coaches and players, who have experienced both very painful and happy moments together. Many thanks to the federation colleagues who “The experience gained is very valuable to draw conclusions about the current situation in Latvian handball in general, as well as to evaluate the new initiative and the perspectives of the people involved in the near future,” added Līcis, who is one of the few Latvian judges who have had the opportunity to judge the Olympic duels.

At the LOK Congress on July 10, Līcis was elected an individual member of the organization.

It has already been reported that the LHF Council has terminated its working relationship with the former Secretary General of the organization Guntis Ciematnieks by mutual agreement.

With eight months left until the re-election congress in March 2021, LHF President Mārtiņš Bičevskis has agreed with the organisation’s Vice President Normunds Bloms that he will assume the duties of Secretary General.

His candidacy will be forwarded to the general meeting of members on August 6.
