The Cardinals of Arizona release Ohio-born Jermiah Braswell after falling into Lake Erie

PUT-IN-BAY, Ohio (WJW) – The Arizona Cardinals released wide receiver Jermiah Braswell after being accused of driving into Lake Erie this weekend under the influence of an accident, the team said on Tuesday.

The uncovered rookie drove a Camaro into the lake near Conlan Road in Put-in-Bay at around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, the police said.

Witnesses told Put-in-Bay police that he was accelerating when the car pulled off the road, drove through a meadow, and drove off a bank.

Braswell blurred his words and, according to the police report, did not know what had happened. Body camera video shows broken garden furniture. The vehicle was not submerged.

He did a field sobriety test and was arrested. The police said he also did a portable breath test and his blood alcohol level had exceeded the state’s legal limit.

According to the police, nobody was in the vehicle and no one was injured.

The Toledo-born Braswell played in 40 games for Youngstown State University.
