Suspended WR Martavis Bryant likely won’t play in 2020

Several NFL teams have inquired about free agent wide receiver Martavis Bryant, but the former Steelers and Raiders player who missed all of 2019 has yet to apply for a reinstatement, reported on Saturday. NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

While with the Raiders in 2018, Bryant was suspended indefinitely by the league for violating the terms of his conditional reinstatement following a previous ban. Bryant has yet to reapply for reinstatement and while he hopes to play, there is still work to be done and Bryant playing in 2020 seems unlikely at this time, Rapoport added.

Bryant was drafted in the fourth round of the 2014 Draft by the Steelers and showed promise and often brilliance in Pittsburgh, combining 14 touchdowns in his first two seasons despite appearing in just 21 of 32 possible games. He was then suspended for the duration of the 2016 season and after another year with the Steelers, he was traded to the Raiders. Bryant played a year with the Raiders in 2018, which, at this point, remains his last.
