The Nationals has passed the first test of the exhibition season, successfully hosting a game against the Phillies. Now they face their next major test: a road game.
It’s not really a journey, just a short bus ride to Camden Yards and back. No overnight stay in the hotel. No flights.But there are several protocols and considerations that must follow for tonight’s game against the Orioles and, hopefully at the end of the night, they will have a better idea of what they will find once they really start traveling next week.
From a baseball perspective, Stephen Strasburg gets his one and only opportunity to face an opposing lineup before he counts against the Yankees on Saturday. It is Strasbourg’s 32nd birthday and he will spend it for the first time in his career at Camden Yards. (I know, I couldn’t even believe it.)
The formation includes all players who have recently joined the field: Juan Soto in the left field, Howie Kendrick in first base e Victor Robles in the central field. Asdrúbal Cabrera start again from third base Carter Kieboom, further evidence that the veteran is likely to begin on Thursday evening.
You can, of course, watch it all live on MASN, with the Orioles crew calling the game tonight on the spot. Bob Carpenter, FP Santangelo and Alex Chappell will make their summer debut for Tuesday night’s rematch at Nationals Park.
