Richmond outperforms Western Bulldogs by 41 points, kicking off the 20-day AFL Festival of Footy

Richmond warned his rivals by destroying the Western Bulldogs in Carrara by 41 points, as the AFL will play 33 games in just 20 days.

The Tigers, who were without the premier players Daniel Rioli and Jack Graham or injured Nick Vlastuin, blew the Bulldogs off in a dominant opening half before winning 13.12 (90) to 7.7 (49).

The Tigers’ fifth victory in 2020 places them in third place in the ranking as AFL begins a so-called “Festival of Footy” in a desperate effort to end the season.

In addition to the four competition points, Tiger’s coach Damien Hardwick will be thrilled by a dominant performance by superstar midfielder Dustin Martin.

The two-time Norm Smith medalist showed his best side, scoring three goals and scoring 26 exits in a dominant performance.

The great striker Tom Lynch also shook off part of his youngest sleep and scored two goals for the Tigers.

The Tigers scored their victory with 10 to three goals at half time. Jake Aarts scored three goals and Jason Castagna got two majors and seven marks.

Mitch Wallis continued his good form in front of the Bulldogs goal with three goals, while Laitham Vandermeer had two for the evening.

Bulldog Jackson Macrae played in his 150th game and was employed by a well-beaten team. He led the game with 37 exits.

In addition to the Bulldogs’ pain, they lost Matt Suckling in the first season due to a thigh injury and caused a headache in the selection before Monday’s game against Port Adelaide, who leads the ladder.

The Tigers want to build on their performance on Tuesday when they play for the reigning premieres against second-placed Brisbane in Carrara in the third of four games in 16 days.
