The 40-year-old Gasol wants to play at the Tokyo Olympics next summer before embarking on a career spanning two decades.
Gasoline played for Barcelona before going to North America.
As a two-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers, Gasol signed with the Portland Trail Blazers before the 2019-2020 season, but was revoked last November before even playing a game. His last NBA action took place in spring 2019 with the Milwaukee Bucks. After Gasol was bought up by the San Antonio Spurs, he signed with the Bucks to prepare for a playoff run. But his Bucks stint ended after only three games when a left ankle injury required end-of-season surgery.
Gasol, the third choice for the 2001 NBA Draft, appeared in 19 seasons in 1,226 career games with the Memphis Grizzlies, Lakers, Chicago Bulls, Spurs and Bucks.
For his career, he scored an average of 17.0 points on 507 shots, 9.2 boards and 1.7 assists over 33.0 minutes per night.
Internationally, Gasol has been highly decorated, won medals at three Olympic Games and won gold at the 2006 World Cup in Japan.
