Jovic, isolated at home due to risk of coronavirus

The problems multiply to Luka Jovic in his first season at Real Madrid, marked by a series of incidents that have caused unrest in the club and that are coupled with his low performance. The striker has been subjected to isolation at home, after receiving a visit at his home from a friend who tested positive for the Covid-19 that Real Madrid performed, in accordance with the protocol that the Chamartín club applies to relatives and acquaintances with whom they maintain contact football players.

Although the control that has been carried out to the Serbian battering ram has given negative, the club has applied the established guidelines and has confined Jovic to his residence, who will undergo daily surveillance with new controls to monitor his condition.

The Balkan reappeared last Sunday in San Mamés, where Zinedine Zidane gave him a few minutes in the final stretch of the match against Athletic for the thirty-fourth day of the League. He had not been on the pitch since February 26, when he played six minutes against Manchester City in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.

Jovic stayed without summoning against Barcelona and Betis, the last two games played by the Whites before the break, and left for Serbia during the confinement with the club’s approval before the state of alarm was decreed in Spain for be closer to your child. But he caused a scandal in his country by skipping the home isolation imposed on those who came from abroad, since he was seen celebrating his girlfriend’s birthday on the streets of Belgrade. An incident that put him under surveillance by the Serbian authorities.

From there Jovic returned with a fracture in the calcaneus bone of his right foot that was done by exercising at home and discovered by Real Madrid’s medical services in tests carried out before returning to training on May 11. An injury that kept him out until that visit to San Mamés.

Zidane gave his footballers a free day on Monday and the Whites resumed training on Tuesday, a session in which Jovic no longer participated, nor has he done this Wednesday when he was confined to his home due to the risk of exposure to the coronavirus. The Balkan was placed in isolation on Monday, shortly after receiving the visit of his infected friend, who arrived in Madrid that same day from Belgrade, so he would not have had contact with his teammates nor would he have put them in danger.

Confirmed drop for this Friday’s game against Alavés, the forward will be tested again in a few days to see if he can return to training with the rest of his teammates.

Unlucky season

It was a fateful campaign for Jovic, one of the star signings of last summer. Recruited in exchange for 60 million euros After scoring 27 goals and distributing seven assists in 48 games the previous season with Eintracht Frankfurt, the striker has disappointed with his performance and it could not have been that replacement of guarantees for Karim Benzema that Real Madrid was looking for.

He has only scored two goals in 25 games, most of them leaving from the bench and, despite the fact that Zidane has defended him publicly assuring that he is “the future”, there are doubts about his future at the club after a long list of incidents that also include a barbecue with friends held in Madrid without maintaining the safety distance shortly before the return of LaLiga.
