NRL 2020: Craig Bellamy rejects Warriors owner Mark Robinson’s offer

Warrior owner Mark Robinson has announced that he has turned to Melbourne Prime Minister Craig Bellamy to take on the role of trainer, but the experienced mentor has declined the offer.

Robinson told 1News that he was looking for a top coach to replace Stephen Kearney, whose tenure ended abruptly two weeks ago, despite being under contract until the end of 2022.

He said Kearney “has the wrong personality for the people we have, the club we have and where I want to go. I need someone with a certain personality.”

“We called [Craig] Bellamys manager and asked him and he said “no chance”. But there’s nothing wrong with asking, is it? You will never get it unless you ask. “

He added that veterans Blake Green and Gerard Beale would not renew their contracts in 2021.

Robinson said he will approach his players at their Gosford base – the Warriors have moved to Australia since early May, with no definite schedule for when they can return to New Zealand due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

The wingers Ken Maumalo and David Fusitu’a as well as the experienced striker Agnatius Paasi have expressed the wish to return to Auckland soon if their families are not allowed to go to Australia.

“If you want to talk to me about mentally [health]”Anything that has to do with mental or some help or something, have a coffee with me,” Robinson said in an interview with 1 News.

“I need to talk to players who want to go home. I’m training with them, I interact with them all day, I’m just part of the crew now.”
