Sebastian Hoeneß Draws Interest from Chelsea FC: Will He Leave VfB Stuttgart?

Successful coach Sebastian Hoeneß from VfB Stuttgart, who was also an issue at FC Bayern some time ago, has apparently aroused the interest of a club from the English Premier League.

As Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday evening via X (formerly Twitter), Hoeneß is highly regarded at Chelsea FC. The Blues had just announced their mutual parting of ways with team manager Mauricio Pochettino. Chelsea are now looking for a “dynamic” coach, wrote Romano, with several candidates currently being discussed internally, including Hoeneß, Thomas Frank (Brentford FC) and Kieran McKenna (Ipswich Town).

According to Romano, VfB Stuttgart doesn’t have to worry too much about a possible Hoeneß move to the motherland of football: the 42-year-old is “fully focused” on his job with the Swabians, according to the well-connected journalist.

Hoeneß has been doing outstanding work at VfB for around a year and a half, crowned by the runner-up title last season. It was no coincidence that FC Bayern had the nephew of Honorary President Uli Hoeneß on the list when looking for a successor to Thomas Tuchel. At the beginning of March, Sebastian Hoeneß committed to Stuttgart by extending his contract until 2027.

VfB Stuttgart: Sebastian Hoeneß has an exit clause

However, according to father and advisor Dieter Hoeneß, his new contract contains an exit clause.

“But it is not automatic that he will have to change if he is successful. It is primarily about protecting the coach to some extent,” the 71-year-old recently told “Sport1”.

“There is already experience that a club has not done the best thing to give the coach the tools so that he can be really successful. Based on this experience, they then decided to include an exit clause to be able to act ourselves,” explained Dieter Hoeneß.
