Tennis superstar Novak Djokovic he believes he has been unfairly trashed by the media for the COVID epidemic in his recent tennis tournament … comparing criticism to a “witch hunt”.
Obviously, Djokovic caught fire heavily for launching tennis events in Croatia and Serbia, with limited social distances or significant protocols to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
In fact, there were photos and videos of Novak playing basketball with other athletes without masks during the tournament – and partying in a very crowded disco without PPE.
Novak – together with his wife and many other tournament participants – subsequently tested positive for COVID. Shocker, right?
Now, the 33-year-old is talking about the media coverage of his doomed event … and he’s really angry!
“I can only see criticisms lately and many of them are harmful,” Djokovic told Serbian Sportski Zurnal newspaper.
“Obviously it’s more than just a critique: it’s like an agenda and a witch hunt are on the agenda. Someone has to take the fall, a big name.”
Yes, WHY YOUR TOURNAMENT WAS !! You made the decisions! WHAT DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND ON THIS ?!
Anyway, let’s go on …
Novak was also asked if he will play in the upcoming US Open.
“I have not yet decided if I will play in the US Open – the growth of Covid-19 recorded cases in the United States and particularly in New York is not playing in the hands of the event.”
So, are you worried about the case now? !!
Once again, pushing forward … Novak says he has “learned his lesson” and now (in a way) he realizes he has made mistakes.
“My intention was pure, I was sincerely committed to organizing a humanitarian event to help tennis players and federations in [Balkan] region. We have complied with all laws and regulations. But we learned our lessons and some things probably could have been done differently. “
Stay safe, everyone.
