NFLPA President: Each Response Leads to “Three More Questions”

The NFL and NFLPA continue to discuss how to open camps safely, but one of the problems they face is that targets continue to move.

Trying to plan for a virus that is spreading to record levels across large areas of the country is making things difficult, and that is one of the problems the league and the union are facing right now.

“There are a lot of unanswered questions, and even when you find an answer, it raises three more questions,” said NFLPA President JC Tretter, via Mike Jones of United States today. “It’s kind of constantly trying to plug the holes, and you’re just trying to stay afloat.”

This reality makes it difficult to implement a plan, the clock tending towards the scheduled opening of training camps on July 28.

Jones’ report says goal is to reach agreement on important issues by the end of next week (with specific mention between July 8-10) to give players time to make arrangements to travel to return to work.

“The NFLPA and the NFL are in the exact same place, where we want everything that creates the safest possible environments for all of our constituents, be they players, coaches, coaches, medical staff – anyone in that environment “said the chief medical officer of the NFL. Dr. Allen Sills said last week. “We are going to work very hard together to educate everyone on the steps that we think are most effective in reducing the risks for everyone.”

Coming up with these stages is the current challenge, but the biggest one is to recognize that all plans will need to be flexible and subject to change throughout the season.
