Nate Solder threatens not to play football amid NFL coronavirus talks

NFL players have yet to sign a season for the NFL.

As the league and the NFL Players Association negotiate the details of an unprecedented season in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Giants have left Nate Solder, the union’s union representative, clarified that the parties were not not close to an agreement on health and safety protocols.

“If the NFL doesn’t do its part to keep players healthy, there is no football in 2020,” Solder tweeted Friday. “It’s so simple.”

With training camps set to begin on July 28, the league and players’ union are scheduled to speak on Monday, but have yet to agree on issues such as coronavirus testing, financial compensation and the ability for players to withdraw from the season, according to NFL Network.

The NFL has yet to release emergency plans, expecting the season to start on time. Some owners have still not ruled out the possibility for fans to attend games, even if the NBA, NHL and MLS isolate themselves in bubble cities, the MLB is preparing to play in empty stadiums and some college football programs have canceled their seasons.
