Michael Walters is on the wrong path, Fremantle against St Kilda

Michael Walters had another brilliant start to the season, but this moment won’t be one he wants to remember so quickly.

The mercury star stood in the middle and had his hands clean on the ball for Fremantle after the first jump in the middle of the day.

But then it unfortunately became clear that Walters had paid no attention to his skipper during the last speech when he told them which way to go.

Instead of attacking the Dockers, Walters kicked the ball in the wrong direction to attack St. Kilda in the first minute of their game and get on the board.

Fading the brain cost the dockers a lot of money and set the Saints on an early path of slaughter when they slammed seven gates into one in the opening quarter. Teams that have won the opening quarter since AFL’s return have won games in more than 75 percent of cases.

As dominant as the Saints were, it was Walters’ brain drain in the first few seconds that stole the limelight for the audience.
