Maurizio Sarri explains why Miralem Pjanic missed Juventus vs Atalanta

Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri explained that Miralem Pjanic missed Saturday’s draw against Atalanta due to a minor injury problem.

The leaders of Serie A recovered a 2-2 draw in Turin thanks to two penalties by Cristiano Ronaldo both for handball.

Sarri was without Pjanic for the game and said he didn’t want to risk the 30-year-old after picking up a minor problem.

“Pjanić had a problem with the adductors, he was not in great shape, so I preferred not to risk a muscle injury when I played every three days and we made different choices.”

Pjanic has continued to play regularly for Juve since his transfer to Barca was announced, unlike Arthur who struggled for game time and lost the trip to Real Valladolid due to illness.

The point for Juventus means that they now have eight points ahead of Lazio, who lost 2-1 against Sassuolo, with six games to play.
