Manchester United’s left back, Luke Shaw, will miss the English Cup semi-final against Chelsea after failing to recover from an ankle problem.

Shaw’s fellow defender Brandon Williams is expected to be in shape after a facial injury.

“Luke will come out. Brandon will try to train on Saturday with his eyes. We’ll see if he can see the ball,” said manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Midfielder N’Golo Kante will miss a fourth consecutive game for Chelsea due to a hamstring injury.

Scottish midfielder Billy Gilmour, 19, left for the rest of the season after knee surgery.

Sergio Romero was on goal for the Kingdom Cup games, but Solskjaer declined to confirm whether he, or the attacker Jesse Lingard, would be involved in Wembley.

“The team is not yet selected. Jesse and Sergio both have a good chance of getting involved,” said Solskjaer.

“Jesse is part of the club. He has worked very hard and deserves the chance to come back. We know his qualities. He has different qualities than other players and he knows we appreciate him.”

LAWRO’S FORECAST

I am supporting United and Chelsea to beat Leicester and both finishing in the top four in the league. But United have the advantage when these two head to head, and I think they will win the Blues for the fourth time this season on Sunday.

United’s improvement doesn’t just depend on whether their top three are playing well, but it certainly helps to finish off so much of the good work done by the rest of their team.

Chelsea are dangerous even when they step forward, of course. I just think United has a greater threat and is also more solid on the other side.

There have been some FA Cup finals across London, but if I’m right with my predictions, and City and United both win and play on August 1st, it would be a shame that their fans won’t be able to come for the Manchester’s first final.

Prediction: 2-0
