New York Giants’ Aldrick Rosas charged with 3 misdemeanors in June crash

New York Giants kicker Aldrick Rosas was formally charged on Wednesday with three hit-and-run offenses on June 15.

The Butte County, California district attorney’s office has elected to file charges of reckless driving, hit and run, and driving while suspended / revoked for a drug / alcohol DUI.

In 2016, Rosas was found guilty of driving with a blood alcohol level above 0.08%, according to court records from Glenn County, California. His next hearing on the current case is scheduled for September 4.

The Giants are expected to open a training camp later this month.

Rosas was driving a black Chevrolet SUV one morning last month when a T-collision occurred. According to the police report, witnesses saw Rosas driving irregularly on the double yellow lines and at an estimated speed of 100 mph when he turned on a red light and struck a Ford pickup truck.

Rosas, 25, is said to have attempted to leave the accident site before her vehicle broke down. He went out and fled the scene on foot without shoes.

Officers attended Rosas’ home after the scene was cleared. The 2018 Pro Bowl kicker wasn’t there but was later stopped walking the side of a road with his hands, legs and bare feet covered in blood. Rosas was eventually treated for minor injuries at Enloe Medical Center and was subsequently enrolled in Butte County Jail.

The police report originally stated that alcohol-impaired driving was considered a factor. But there was no mention of a breathalyzer or blood test.

None of the charges filed on Wednesday mentioned the presence of alcohol.

Rosas has just had a difficult season in which he made only 12 of 17 field goal attempts (70.6%). He was re-appointed as a restricted free agent for $ 3.3 million this offseason after the Giants used a second-round bid on him.

Rosas had 32 of 33 field goals (96.9%) the previous season and was named to the Pro Bowl. The former southern Oregon kicker made his way onto the Giants’ active roster in 2017.
