New Zealander Lydia Ko gave a revealing view of how she thinks about her golf by writing a letter to 15-year-old Ko.

Now 23, the former No. 1 in the world has taken part in the Drive on LPGA program, designed to inspire and celebrate women.

In the open letter, published on the LPGA website, Ko said he accepted and appreciated the experiences he would have had during his career, which suggests that at the time he did not.

Ko won his first LPGA at the age of 15, became number 1 in the world two years later and at the age of 18 he won his first major.

But in recent years it has found the hardest route and currently ranks 49th in the world rankings.

Ko begins his letter by describing the exciting things that await them, but then takes on a more cautious tone.

“Dear 15-year-old Lydia:” begins.

“So much is going to happen: wonderful things and difficult things; things that will create joyful memories and painful things that will make you cry. You will learn and grow as a person from all of them.

“The most important advice I could give you is to never take a single day, a single moment for granted.

“Immerse yourself in every experience and embrace every sensation, good or bad, that comes towards you.” The game you love is a vehicle that allows you to go places, meet people and learn things that others may not know or understand.

“But you have to slow down and take your eyes off the road every now and then or you’ll miss the scenery.”

Later in the letter, Ko writes about his golden age as a player, where he stunned the world of golf with his success at such a young age.

“For a while, winning will seem routine, almost automatic,” he wrote.

“You will lose track of all the” first “and” youngest “you have set up. Don’t fool yourself into thinking it’s easy. And don’t believe for a moment that will last forever.

“The truest axiom of golf is this: no matter how you are playing, it will change. A week, a season, a year or two, every hit will seem simple and every putt will look like a tap-in.

“So, a week or two later, perhaps longer, the shots that landed exactly where only a fraction left or right should have fallen.

“The putts that seemed to find the center of the hole will disappear by a few centimeters. Do not panic. The game hasn’t left you. You haven’t forgotten how to play.

Golf is difficult. That’s why so many fans come out to see it sound good. They include the hours on the course needed to build a solid and repeatable golf swing.

“They understand the sweat and frustration that occurs in thousands of bunker shots. They appreciate the dedication needed to make 100 6 feet before dinner. And they appreciate the nerve needed to hit the shots under pressure.

“There is good news. With the same speed with which the game can slip away, with hard work and self-esteem it can return. And when he does, you will be stronger and wiser to have traveled the rough road to get there. “

Meanwhile, Ko has revealed that he has passed his driver’s test in Orlando, Florida, where he lives.

“I’m like,” Yes! “Said Ko.” You feel more like an adult. “

“I was very nervous,” said Ko. “I was like sweating, I really sweated in my hands. It was a bit like what it feels like at hole 18 when it comes with a one stroke advantage. “

Ko plans to play the Drive On Championship at the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio in two weeks.
