Guys, it was nice. Against the Carrarese the adventure of Juventus Under 23 ended in this year characterized by the strained leg intervention of Covid-19. With a defeat in the quarterfinals of the Serie C playoffs, after having taken away the satisfaction of winning the Italian Cup of C, the first trophy of its so far two-year history. The project is growing significantly and will start again next year with a new coach, which is certainly not a trivial name: Andrea Pirlo.

THANKS FOR EVERYTHING – Fabio Pecchia must be recognized for his excellent work: the team found conviction during the season, which started with some difficulties. Moreover, we speak for the most part of young players, as talented as they are not accustomed to a category that from a physical and character point of view forgives little. But now it will be the turn of a man who made the history of Italian football, certainly not just Juve. That off the field should be assisted, let’s remember, by Marco Storari while one of his collaborators on the training field should be Roberto Baronio. A match that has experienced the beginning of this Juventus cycle of success still open on the pitch, and which is now ready to measure itself on the other side of the barricade, that of the bench, to prepare the possible talents of the first team. It’s usually said – and it’s far from commonplace – that great midfielders easily become great coaches. Will Pirlo have the same genius he had when he conducted the orchestra in the middle?

NEW ERA – We also remember that training an Under 23 has several variables compared to a “normal” team. You do not form the group based on your project, but the composition and transformations of the staff depend on the needs of the parent company. Pirlo’s role will be to be a master, as he was as a footballer, for the players that the club will make available to him. The 2019-20 season has just passed, difficult to know with certainty what Juventus plans are regarding the staff. But we have a curiosity, and it is linked to Nicolò Fagioli, who is making a gradual metamorphosis from midfielder to midfielder reminiscent of what made Pirlo the greatest director in the world: if the 19-year-old jewel remains in the Under 23, who better than Pirlo could guide him in this process?
