Jet waits for all undrafted free agents

The nine players selected in Joe Douglas’ first draft as general manager of the Jets are not the only recruits to compete for jobs this summer. Douglas and the Jets also signed nine undrafted free agents in the lineup in hopes of finding young and talented players where other teams have failed.

Douglas is already known as a UDFA wizard of his days with the Ravens, so he’s one step ahead of finding the best talent after the draft. This is probably why he caught players from several positions in need, including linebacker, defensive back, offensive line and wide receiver. At worst, Douglas will fill his training team. But at best, he could find a young and good player at different places on the team.

Here are the expectations of all the Jets’ free draft agents with the training camp approaching.

The Jets need help to rush and Huff will have a great opportunity to make an impact early. Besides Jordan Jenkins, the Jets have no entrenched linebackers on the list – and that’s where Huff could fill. It is small for its position (6 feet 1 inch, 254 pounds) but quick on the edge and has a nose for the quarterback.

Huff will not become an avant-garde rusher from the start, but he will adapt from the start to a beautiful niche in the defense of Gregg Williams, who could become a more consistent role on the Jets. Expectations are rarely high for undrafted free agents, but Huff received the most guaranteed money from any Jets UDFA pickup – $ 90,000.
