The NFL offseason went without the normal flow of announcements about draft picks signing their first pro contracts. That’s because the NFL has limited its teams to online off-season programs.
The recruits did not travel to their new hometown for practices, which meant they were not available to take the physical exams that precede the signing of the contract.
With the NFL rookies reporting their first training camps this week, the pace of contract deals and signings by draft picks has picked up in the fast lane.
The Denver Broncos selected Jerry Jeudy with the 15th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, and the former Alabama wide receiver unusually announced on Thursday that he and the team had agreed on the terms of the contract.
Jeudy posted a video on social media featuring some of the best Broncos players of the past – John Elway, Ed McCaffrey, Terrell Davis, Shannon Sharpe, Von Miller and Peyton Manning – with the captions “I salute the greats. I aspire to be ”before appearing to announce:“ We have accepted the conditions. “
Jeudy will sign a four-year, fully guaranteed contract of $ 15.192 million, including a signing bonus of $ 8.61 million.

Players drafted in the first round are given four-year contracts that include a squad option for a fifth season. Players drafted in the other six rounds sign four-year contracts, but without the squad option.
The values of these contracts are not negotiable, but are based on the NFL salary cap of $ 198.2 million for the 2020 season and this year’s rookie pay pool in a formula set out in the deal. collective bargaining between the league and its players’ association. Before the 2011 collective agreement, contract negotiations for draft picks did not have this constraint.
Of the 21 Alabama high school and college players drafted in April, 18 accepted terms or signed their rookie contracts.
