Michele Pirro was prepared by Ducati to replace Andrea Dovizioso in the Spanish MotoGP

SportFEAT.COM – The Ducati manufacturer’s team appointed test rider Michele Pirro for the Spain 2020 MotoGP title as a replacement for Andrea Dovizioso if he has not recovered.

As is known, Andrea Dovizioso suffered a left collarbone injury after participating in a motocross event in Italy.

As a result, the driver from the State of Pizza must undergo surgery and requires at least three weeks of recovery.

Even though the inaugural MotoGP 2020 series will soon begin at the Jerez Circuit on July 16 to 19.

This condition makes the Ducati manufacturer team feel nervous if Andrea Dovizioso fails to appear in the inaugural MotoGP 2020 series.

Although compatriot Valentino Rossi feels confident he can recover before the race, Ducati apparently did not want to take risks.

The team based in Bologna has prepared a backup plan.

The Ducati team stated that they had prepared a replacement for Dovizioso if he could not appear.

The figure designated as a substitute for the driver who is familiarly called Dovi is the test rider, Michele Pirro.

“In the next few days, as a backup plan, I will do a Covid-19 serological test, if Andrea still has a problem,” Michele Pirro was quoted as saying by SportFEAT.com from GPOne.com.

“But actually I’m sure Andrea can perform in Spain. I think she and Petrucci will be competitive.”

“Jorge is very determined. You can expect a lot from him. He wants to go to Ducati and show he can win,” said Pirro.

“He is also close to Yamaha and retired with experience at Honda. I think the sense of wanting to return to racing is very high.
