Mesut Ozil will resist Arsenal’s attempts to sell him this summer and intends to see the final year of his £ 350,000 a week contract despite being withdrawn from the team, according to reports.

The German director has not yet made his appearance for the Gunners since the football season has been restarted despite being a regular on the team before the stoppage, without even joining the team for the last three Premier League games.

Arsenal is believed to be willing to dump Ozil – and his huge club salary – if they can find a buyer, even if the player himself is less enthusiastic despite appearing to be frozen.

According to The Sun, Ozil has told friends that he has no plans to leave Arsenal this summer and will remain with the club even if it is not part of Mikel Arteta’s plans.

The 31-year-old is determined to see the last year of his contract and therefore intends to leave with a free transfer next summer.

Ozil’s decision means Arsenal will have to shell out around £ 18 million on his salary in the next 12 months even if he doesn’t play a single minute of football.

The World Cup winner will then be free to start negotiating a pre-contract deal with foreign clubs from January onwards, although he has already reduced his options.

Ozil has told friends that he will consider playing only in the United States or Turkey as he tries to end his career.

The former Real Madrid and Schalke star is a third-generation German-Turkish and was eligible to play for the former nation but opted for the country of birth, while his wife is the former Miss Turkey Amine Gulse – the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was even present at their wedding.

Ozil has endured a tough campaign this season, once again struggling with back problems, and he has scored only once and has scored only three assists in 23 appearances in all competitions.

Despite not having chosen Ozil in the last teams of the day – even though he has now been granted nine subtitles – Arteta has opened the doors to his reintroduction saying “there is always room for a player of his quality” in the Arsenal team.
