Esther Guerrero pulverizes Spain’s record of 2,000 meters

The Catalan athlete Esther Guerrero, 30 years old, he lowered this Tuesday, in Olot, Spain’s record of 2,000 meters in more than seven seconds, with a final time of 5:41.30.

The runner from Banyoles, the current Spanish champion both on the indoor and outdoor track, pulverized the previous record, which was in the hands of Julia Cowboy since 1996 (5: 47.81) and that it was one of the longest-running records in Spanish athletics.

Guerrero, who participated in the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games in the 800 meters, broke the record at the Tussols-Basil athletics stadium in Olot, where he trains regularly, and in one of the first post-confinement tests.
