DFS MLB Choices: Stack Slants for DraftKings + FanDuel

Welcome to what I’m temporarily calling Stack Slants, a new daily DFS MLB feature. Our goal here will be a quick review of the formations in the afternoon – hopefully with some confirmed information – in the hope of finding a different approach to some high quality low quality batteries or a low quality battery that we can exploit. We will focus mainly on Awesemo’s Top Stacks tool as a frequent reference point.

If you haven’t played MLB DFS, you may not be familiar with how the Stack tool works, but you should familiarize yourself with it. Personally, I think it is one of the most powerful features of the site. Today is not a great example to kick things off with just two games on the list, but normally I will review each team’s probability of being the best stack of the day and compare it with the expected team ownership provided by the tool. When we see a property that tends significantly below the team’s chances of being your best option, it’s a great place. I will also be careful to review the various probability rankings relative to each other. Some days there is not much difference between the third and seventh, as one might think, which indicates some underestimated opportunities.

Most of it is outside the window tonight with only two games on the list. Instead we will only seek a creative approach to each of the four formations to try and go as far as possible for these gigantic GPPs. With the news already open that citizens Juan Soto will come out after a positive COVID-19 test, and with a strange formation from the Yankees, we already have some new angles to examine. We are only working with the lineups scheduled for the late game; I will try to update on the news if possible.

Los Angeles Dodgers: 2-3-5-6-7 – Muncy – Turner – Seager – Pollock – Pederson

There’s not really a sneaky creative corner in this Dodgers stack tonight. They will be very popular. This approach tries to become contrarian by leaving out the two best bats on the team while maintaining quality and correlation. Be sure to get Game Pederson at the end of that chain RBI is a must, given its prodigious power against the right throw.

New York Yankees: 4-7 – Stanton – Gardner – Sanchez – Voit

The Yanks released an unexpected lineup and could create some opportunities. Aaron Hicks switch to the leadoff and a lot of ownership will follow it and build the stack from there. This takes advantage of less popular Brett Gardner hit fifth and play through the power of Gary Sanchez is Luke You, while we tie up Giancarlo Stanton, my home choice for the day. On DraftKings you can take a version for three or turn on a chalky but fantastic Gleyber Torres now.

San Francisco Giants: 3-4-5-7-8 – Flores – Pence – Ruf – Dubon – Crawford

This training is not good. There’s really nothing to see here, but what we’re trying to achieve is finding any sort of differentiation in a bad but popular stack. I’m thinking we can’t take advantage of the fact that nobody knows anything about Dubon and the people who stray from a left-handed, late-lined matchup. Crawford has had successful seasons against left-handers, but in recent years he has had a crater including a terrible .236 / .277 / .321 with a WRC + 40% lower than the league average on the negative side of his platoon divides into the 2019. This is a total dice roll and not for the faint hearted.

Washington citizens: 7-9-1-2-3 – Cabrera – Robles – Turner – Eaton – Castro

Do you want to be different about things on a two player game? Going further with my initial thought of an enveloping stack to try to exploit the speed of citizens to our advantage, this adds Asdrubal Cabrera to the mix in seventh place e Starlin castro bringing the RBI point behind the boards. It is a very specific game and we are sacrificing the opportunity for plate appearances at the bottom of the ladder, so the buyer is careful here. Release one of the five for a similar game on FanDuel, I would like to try to keep the 9-1-2 part.
