Burnley 1 Wolves 1 – player ratings

Rui Patricio

Couldn’t help against Wood’s free kick, which was placed directly in the top corner.

Before that, however, Patricio was in no man’s land when he asked for a cross and missed it. Wood somehow went far with an open goal. 6

Willy Boly

A solid performance by the Frenchman who helped keep the Clarets strikers calm before the hectic and extremely frustrating end for the wolves. 7

Conor Coady

Was outraged at the punitive decision, understandably.

Made a great block in the first half to refuse Rodriguez, but as he said later, the wolves could have made the game better towards the end, despite Mike Dean’s questionable call. 7

Romain Saiss

Limited Rodriguez, who was briefly withdrawn for Vydra in the second half, was too little and made no obvious mistakes. 7

Adama Traore

Played early with Taylor and then retired before having a hand in Jimenez’s goal by raising the field and playing it to Doherty, whose deflected shot fell at the Mexican’s feet.

Not at its devastating best, but still effective. 7

Joao Moutinho

Looked pretty refreshed after not starting Everton. His deliveries of set pieces largely returned to the standard that you would expect from him. 7

Ruben Neves

No shock to be heard – Neves was again the top performer of the wolves.

The Portuguese has been so keen since the restart and was the one who got the most attention about Turf Moor. He denied Brownhill with a brilliant block and passed it on so sharply and precisely. Only one class. 8th

Ruben vinegar

Vinagre was drafted in to provide a faster, more attacking threat to the left full-back and took some good positions. His influence waned somewhat in the second half, but he did pretty well. 7

Daniel Podence

Was guilty of doing too much at times, but Podence was still showing real quality insights. Get into promising positions with his clever footwork.

He also had a great chance for Jota, who should have tested Pope at least shortly before the break. 7

Raul Jimenez

Overall, it was a fairly calm portrayal of the Mexican, who may be a little tiring.

However, his goal was wonderful – a thing of sheer beauty. It probably won’t get the recognition it deserves considering how the game ended, but go ahead, treat yourself and have a look. 7

Diogo Jota

Given that he was back at the gates against the Toffees, it was fair to expect that Jota would fly out of the blocks here.

However, it was not quite so for him. Missed a big chance when he was played through by Podence and really faded from the clash. 6

Subs

Matt Doherty (for Podence, 69)

Played a role in Wolves’ goal before it was cruelly judged that he had used the ball for Burnley’s penalty. 6

Pedro Neto (for Jota, 78)

Showed a few tricks and had a low shot saved by Pope. 6

Jonny Castro Otto (for Vinagre, 84)

N / A

Leander Dendoncker (for Jimenez, 84)

N / A

Not used: Ruddy (gk), Kilman, Buur, Jordao, Gibbs-White
