The Buccaneers sign running back LeSean McCoy, which seems less of a coincidence today. For now, they need the numbers for him.

According to Rick Stroud of Tampa Bay Times, the Buccaneers put running backs Raymond Calais and Aca’Cedric Ware on the reserve / COVID-19 list on Friday.

They join third-round rookie Ke’Shawn Vaughn on the roster, considerably thinning the herd at position. They only had six running backs on the roster at the start of camp, before adding McCoy.

According to TheAthletic.com’s Greg Auman, Calais (their seventh round this year) and Ware were part of the visiting squad on Wednesday which included quarterback Tom Brady, for those looking for home contact.

It shows how close a team is to an outbreak, and how the virus can hastily decimate a position group at a time when the stakes are much higher.
