Bryson DeChambeau’s transformation is not a new topic. Indeed it was the topic since golf returned last month. He is older. He is stronger. It is swinging faster. The ball travels otherworldly distances.
But sometimes you need to listen to the numbers and see it happen to actually set it up.
On Thursday, in the first round of the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village, DeChambeau hit a 423-yard T-shot. Yes, you read that right – 423 yards!

He had 46 yards left for his second pitch in the first hole. By comparison, a few hours later, Tiger Woods had left 144 yards for his second hit. We’ll spare you the trouble of doing math yourself – that’s a 98 yard difference.
DeChambeau did birdies on his way to 1-over 73.
