Arsenal is reportedly unable to afford to sign the Barcelona forward Philippe Coutinho during the transfer window this summer.

The Brazilian international is currently on loan to Bayern Munich, but is expected to return to Camp Nou next month after the German club’s participation in the Champions League.

Barca would like to sell Coutinho to raise money for Inter Lautaro Martinezand a recent report stated that Arsenal was one of the clubs to offer South American.

However, according to The mirror, Mikel Arteta’s side is unable to pay over £ 60 million in a transfer fee, while Coutinho’s substantial wages would be a problem.

The report also claims that a large commission cannot be paid to the former Liverpool playmaker due to the financial impact of the coronavirus epidemic.

The 28-year-old was in a relatively strong form for Bayern during the 2019-20 campaign, scoring nine times and contributing eight assists in 34 appearances in all competitions.

Barcelona have reportedly made significant progress in their bid to sign Inter striker Lautaro Martinez.

Earlier this week, Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu suggested suspending negotiations for the Argentine national team.

However, according to TO BE, the two sides reached a compromise on what will be needed to conclude an agreement.

In addition to the Catalan giants who pay 70 million euros (63.36 million pounds), Inter want to secure left back services Junior Firpo.

The report says the Italian outfit is happy to accept that the 23-year-old will be priced at € 41 million (£ 37.11 million), effectively bringing the whole package down to € 111 million (£ 100 million).

However, at a time when many other players are eager to sell, it is unclear whether Barcelona is currently able to satisfy their conclusion of the deal.
