Arsenal fans have noticed what Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain did while Liverpool lost to Manchester City

Arsenal fans would have enjoyed seeing their fierce Tottenham rivals lose Thursday evening.

The Spurs were beaten 3-1 by Sheffield United to make sure the Gunners remained above them on the Premier League table with six games to play.

But there was something else that Arsenal fans were having fun with later in the night.

The late game was at Etihad Stadium, where Manchester City ran out of winners 4-0 against the newly crowned Liverpool champion.

Kevin de Bruyne scored the opener from the penalty spot, but above all for the Gunners fans, and for Thierry Henry the Belgian only took one assist.

De Bruyne is chasing Henry’s record 20 assists in one season, with 17 currently at his name with now six games to play. He nearly caught one when he put the ball on Raheem Sterling to score what he thought was his second of the night, but former Arsenal player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain slipped in and deflected the ball into his own net, leading away the goal from Sterling and assistance away from de Bruyne.

And this made some Arsenal fans speak on Twitter.

@AFCAMDEN on Twitter said: “Oxlade Chamberlain protects Henry’s service record. You like to see it.”

And he wasn’t the only one.

@VanHelsiingh said exactly the same thing: “Oxlade Chamberlain protects Henry’s assistance record. You like to see it …”

@LacaSweat also said, with a gif of Arsene Wenger: “Wenger sold Oxlade Chamberlain to Liverpool so he could score a goal of his own by preventing Sterling from scoring an assist from KDB to make sure that KDB can’t beat the assist record by Thierry Henry. Arsène Wenger has done it again. “
