Here are six unlikely roster cuts, which if the Dallas Cowboys made, might shock fans

The Dallas Cowboys must reduce a possible 90-man roster to just 55 players is no small feat. And the preseason is incredibly useful in determining which players will make the final cup. Without a doubt, this year will be very different.

There will be no preseason games in 2020 due to the global pandemic. Therefore, coaching staff and the front office will need to make these tough cuts based on a virtual offseason schedule and training camp practices.

To complicate matters, the Cowboys have hired a new head coach at Mike McCarthy this offseason. And in turn, McCarthy made several changes to the coaching staff. So, with the new regime, new game plans, new philosophies and zero loyalty to existing players.

Whether you’re a veteran or a fresh-faced rookie, most players will need to earn their spot on the roster this summer. Unless you’re a star like running back Ezekiel Elliott, right guard Zack Martin or defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence.

With all of these changes in mind, the coming Finals in early September could include a surprise or two. Cowboy fans will remember one of the last examples of a shocking roster cut being longtime kicker Dan Bailey just two years ago. After seven seasons in Dallas, Bailey was released in the final cuts in favor of 28-year-old CFL rookie kicker Brett Maher.

Bailey being one of the most accurate kickers in NFL history, no one saw his shocking release coming. Still, his salary cap hit $ 4.2 million and his remaining contract made Maher’s booming leg an even more attractive option.

Could there be another Dan Bailey level version this year? Here are six unlikely cut contestants that might shock Cowboy fans if they were to suddenly be let go in the last roster downsizing in 2020.
