UFC ‘Fight Island’ insight: schedules, hotel logs, more

The next time the UFC holds an event, it will be on Fight Island, also known as Yas Island, United Arab Emirates.

On July 11th, July 15th, July 18th and July 25th, the UFC will host events – four tickets in 15 days.

The campaign informed the athletes, worth four cards, of their flight and testing procedures in a document that was sent out earlier this week.

MMA Junkie received a second UFC document on Sunday. The new two-page format informs fighters of each of their weekly combat plans, as well as what to expect in terms of hotel rooms, training room, restaurants, tests, social distance, PSA, common areas, local areas and additional points.

Hotel details

  • A ballroom has been converted into a gym with cardio machines.
  • Every athlete receives “enough accommodation for himself and his entire camp”.
  • Each athlete receives a private training area with mats – a converted bedroom near the room in which they are.
  • Cleaning products and a portable sauna are provided to the athletes.
  • Athletes will not have access to the rooms until they have passed the COVID 19 tests.

Eat and Eat

  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided to all athletes, as well as a $ 150 credit per day for a la carte items.
  • There are three restaurants available – two restaurants (which only have a capacity of 30 percent) or in-room restaurants. There are also a handful of restaurants on the premises.
  • Athletes are not entitled to free meals on the days they take Trifecta meals (UFC PI’s nutritional program) (see above).

Testing, social distancing and PSA

  • Athletes and curves are tested four times
    1. Before departure
    2. On arrival at the airport
    3. The results from test 2 come back in the hotel room
    4. On the weighing day
  • Fighters must wear face masks and gloves when they are outside of their rooms or exercise rooms.
  • The UFC will provide athletes with PPE.
  • The UFC urges athletes and corners to stay two meters apart if possible.
  • The hotel rooms are cleaned every 48 hours.

Common areas

  • No more than 21 people may be in the hotel gym at the same time.
  • The gym is closed every two hours due to short cleaning.
  • The gym is open 24 hours a day, but is only accessible to athletes and camps from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. due to capacity constraints
  • No towels or water stations are provided.
  • People must disinfect devices after use.
  • The pool and spa are closed.

Local area

  • shops: There are no shops or stores in the safe zone, with the exception of a “basic store” in the hotel.
  • Restaurants: You can dine in the hotel area Yas Plaza.
  • Golf course: A golf course on the premises is open to athletes.
  • Other attractionsWill also be open.
  • Food deliveries must be made via a designated “safe zone”.
  • Deliveries of groceries are only permitted if they are classified as “essential for business”.
