“Time for the Alexander Arnold midfield experiment” – Liverpool and England are supported by Cole to benefit from the role change

After Liverpool won the Premier League title, it is time, according to Joe Cole, for Jürgen Klopp to experiment with Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield.

The 21-year-old graduate of Anfield Academy has given his youth club the first top crown in 30 years.

Success probably means Alexander-Arnold more than many of his fellow men. The local star is experiencing a meteoric rise.

Since his debut in October 2016, he has played 127 games for Liverpool and nine international games for England.

This recognition was earned when a right-back was appointed, with the highly rated youngster being the embodiment of what modern defenders are all about.

His energy and creativity enable him to influence the processes at both ends of the field. 33 templates have been included in the last three seasons.

Many have already suggested that his future is higher, which will allow him to have an even greater impact on the process, and Cole believes that this is the perfect opportunity for this optimization.

The former playmaker from Liverpool and England told BT Sport: “Trent won everything in the game that he can win. He’s 21 and I bet he doesn’t even think about it.

“He goes onto the field and is free. If I were Jürgen Klopp now, I would take this opportunity to see him in midfield.

“He is one of the best passers-by in the country. I might even try him in midfield for England.

Cole’s comments reflect Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher, who previously claimed that Alexander-Arnold could become a Kevin De Bruyne-like figure for the Reds.

He said Viasport in October 2019: “People talk about the future and could he come into midfield and be a Kevin De Bruyne type player. He is now more quality than Liverpool’s midfielder and you think of the crosses De Bruyne uses from the right midfield position and maybe that’s a position Trent could play. “
