The talented young Tottenham defender who was loaned out in the championship is highly praised by the manager

Tottenham Hotspur defender, Cameron Carter-Vickers, has been widely praised this week by his manager in Luton Town, Nathan Jones.

The 22-year-old international was on loan in Stoke City in the first half of the season before moving to Luton in January.

Jones, who returned to Luton in May, brought Carter-Vickers to Stoke. So he was not surprised when the young central defender did a great job in the 1-1 draw against Preston North End.

The young Spurs man played another 90 minutes later when Luton went on to concede in a 1-0 win over Swansea City.

“Cam’s is a good athlete, he’s a good defender, and I took him to Stoke after Ryan Shawcross’ injury,” Jones is quoted in Luton Today.

“He’s hard to replace, Shawcross. We went a different way with a different defender type, and Cam did really well.”

He added: “I like Cam, he’s a really good boy, fits into the dressing room fairly easily, he’s very kind, hardworking, fit.

“Because he’s from Tottenham and has a good education, we know that every young player I’ve ever taken on the character of Tottenham has been wonderful.

“He’s very good at sports, to be honest [performance] didn’t surprise me. “

Carter-Vickers has been ubiquitous for Luton since moving to the Championship Club, which is currently fighting relegation.

The young Spurs defender will return to the North London club with more second division experience this summer, having lent to Sheffield United, Ipswich Town and Swansea City in previous seasons.

Carter-Vickers has a year left for his deal, with Spurs likely having the option to extend it for another year, and the club and Jose Mourinho will have to decide whether to send it out for a sixth rental spell or not a transfer fee for him.
