Manchester United youth Dion McGhee went to social media to send a thank you message to the club.
It became clear this week that the nineteen year old will leave Old Trafford at the end of the month after his contract expires.
The midfielder has been at the club since the age of six and has made nine Premier League 2 Division 2 appearances for the U23 team this season.
On Wednesday, the teenager sent a tweet that read “time for a new challenge” before quickly deleting the post.
McGhee is now back on Twitter again to send a message following the news that he will change clubs in the summer.
“From the age of 6, all I have known is Manchester United,” he wrote.
“I have examined the ranks of young people and have learned a lot within the Academy. I would like to thank all those who attended the Manchester United Football Club, the staff, players, coaches, managers and fans who helped and influenced me to become the player I am today.
“I am excited about the new opportunities that arise and I am ready for the next challenge. Thank you all! Once a red, always a red. “
