The HSV remains in the 2nd division

Hamburg lost 1: 5 to Sandhausen, so the relegation was missed despite support from Bielefeld.

In the relegation Werder Bremen is expecting 1. FC Heidenheim on Thursday and next Monday and not a reunion with HSV. Hamburg lost 1-5 to Sandhausen on Sunday, making Arminia Bielefeld’s rifle aid worthless. A draw would have been enough to push Heidenheim out of third place.

HSV fell behind early due to an own goal by Rick van Drongelen (13th) and Kevin Behrens (21st) and could hope again after captain Aaron Hunt’s (62nd) goal. But again Behrens (84th / penalty), Mario Engels (88th) and Dennis Diekmeier (93th) dashed all hopes of the North Germans – and let Heidenheim cheer despite a 0-3 defeat.

For example, the club from the city of 50,000 in Baden-Württemberg is playing against Bremen for the first promotion to the Bundesliga, while HSV has to endure a third year in the second division.
