Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be tempted to sign a new left-back after the club’s 2-1 win over Norwich on Saturday. The Red Devils fought their way to Wembley thanks to the gates of Odion Ighalo and Harry Maguire. However, Luke Shaw’s performance was poor and there is a feeling that United may need to upgrade its position to fight for the Premier League title against Liverpool and Manchester City next season.
After the final whistle against Norwich, fans flocked to Twitter to judge Manchester United’s performance.
The general consensus was that Diogo Dalot should leave, with the right-back struggling on a rare afternoon when he was selected before Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Supporters also criticized Jesse Lingard, who like Dalot was unable to make the most of his time in the Norfolk sun.
Shaw was also criticized. And its lackluster performance on Carrow Road suggests that United might consider adding an additional signature when the transfer window reopens.

Shaw is good at his defense duties, but moves forward where he runs short. He has not registered a single assist in the Premier League this season and has only three for his name in all competitions.

Evra would score countless goals for United due to his excellent offensive attributes. Shaw doesn’t have the same characteristics.

United has Brandon Williams on the starting blocks, but it’s too early to start week after week.
Solskjaer may be tempted to sign an upgrade for Shaw when the broadcast window reopens. He’s a good squad player, but that’s it. And United will need it better if they want to stop waiting for the trophies they want the most.
